The Cathedral Refectory
Located on the ground floor of the Chapter House, the Café at the Abbey provides a popular meeting place and refreshment venue for local residents and visitors, who can be assured of a warm welcome. Recently refitted and re-equippped, the refectory offers an attractive range of home-made snacks and lunches speciality salads , good coffee and light refreshments. On summer days customers have the option of ordering their drinks or meals to be served al fresco in the Monk's graveyard area in Sumpter Yard. The Café at the Abbey is open 10:00 - 16:30 Mon-Sat: Sunday teas 14:30 - 17:00 (staffed by voluntary teams). On Sundays the Café is usually open from 2.30 to 5.00 for tea and home-made cakes provided and served by voluntary groups from around the diocese, who provide this popular service and thereby raise funds for their own charitable purposes as well as for Abbey mission giving. The refectory frequently accommodates exhibitions of paintings and artwork by many talented local artists.
